Cheesecakes don’t actually have that many ingredients. However, there are still a lot of variables. I’m going to be doing a lot of testing until I find a cheesecake recipe that I think is “it.” Right now, I am testing out different cream cheeses. All other ingredients are staying the same.
I want to get as much feedback as I can. This is why I’m hoping people will sign up to get notified when I’m doing a round of cheesecake testing. If I’m honest, I’m also hoping that this will help generate interest.
I’ve now delivered cheesecakes to six different families (about 16 people have given me feedback). One thing I can tell you is that it is really hard to get consensus on which is the best. Fortunately, no one has reported that the cheesecake was not at all good.
I was doing some “research” (ie: youtube browsing) and found a video about different cheesecakes in New York. Unsurprisingly, there was no consensus on which cheesecake was the best one there. Everyone has their own opinion. Some people even thought the cheesecakes were not good at all. This gives me some relief.
Going into this, I was feeling pressure to have to create the objectively best cheesecake ever. But now I’ve realize that tastes are completely subjective and there will likely never be a cheesecake that is universally determined to be the best. That being said, I definitely want to make a consistently “really delicious” cheesecake and understand that not every person will agree that it is the best cheesecake ever.
As long as I am satisfied that I am making the best cheesecake I can make (and it won’t hurt if a lot of people say it is the best cheesecake they’ve had), I will be happy.
